Welcome to Friday Favorites! This quick glimpse of my week goes out to all subscribers (free and paid). I include a fan-favorite recipe from a cooking class, something I’m watching, reading, or listening to, a recent find, and a win for the week.
What I’m Cooking
This past week was Spring Break for our family and I blissfully spent my time reading on a lounge chair in Florida. I braved the local Publix for yogurt, fruit and sandwich supplies, and I took a much-needed break from cooking dinner. 10/10 recommend. I'm hosting a cooking class for Dominique Sachse tomorrow and can't wait to teach one of my favorite spring salads. Spinach Salad with Pesto and Peas is a riff on an Ina Garten recipe, but with my homemade Any Greens Pesto and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice to wake everything up. It's the most refreshing salad that would pair well with grilled salmon, burgers or chicken. We’re also making the easy One-Bowl Lemon Ricotta cake I posted here last summer. Can’t wait.
You can find all the SITK recipes I’ve shared on Substack in my Recipe Index.
What I’m Reading
I'm still listening to Melanie Shankle's book on Audible when I walk in the morning, but I also started reading First-Time Caller on our trip. It's an homage to Nora Ephron's Sleepless in Seattle and a good pool read. I'm not sure if I absolutely recommend it (it's a little predictable), but I'm throwing it out there for you guys. It was a rec from Beach Reads and Bubbly, whom I adore.
What I’m Coveting
I just got these black A.Emery leather flip-flops with a squared-off toe bed, and they’re perfect with flowy pants or sundresses. I’m also eyeing these strappy brown sandals or these, but I really don’t need them!
This Week’s Win
I needed this week’s downtime before a packed month of activity in my business schedule and family life. While I still did a bit of work editing recipes, responding to the bare minimum of emails and writing this newsletter, it was rejuvenating to slow down. We played copious amounts of Rumikub, took a daily morning walk, got a workout in, played a little pickle ball, and got too much sun. Grateful for this time away.
