Welcome to Friday Favorites! This is a quick glimpse of my week that goes out to all subscribers (free and paid). I include a fan-favorite recipe we made in a cooking class, something I’m watching, reading, or listening to, a recent find, and a win for the week.
What I’m Cooking
This week we kicked off week 1 of my six-week Basics series. It was all about soups (plus chicken stock and vegetable stock). I'm teaching some of the same recipes in my February class for Smart in the Kitchen School members and I can't wait. One of the favorites from this class is always French Onion Soup. It's relatively simple and you might even have the ingredients in your pantry, fridge and freezer.
You can find all the SITK recipes I’ve shared on Substack in my Recipe Index.
What I’m Reading
I just finished watching season 2 of Night Agent but I didn't love it, to be honest. The "bad guys" seemed vague and it just wasn't compelling. I've moved on the XO, Kitty, and if that doesn't show range, I'm not sure what does. It's super cheesy, but kind of fun, and makes me want to travel to Seoul. It's also a complete escape from anything near my reality, so there's that. You might not completely understand what's going on if you didn't watch "To All The Boys I've Loved Before," another escapist coming-of-age comedy that focuses on the same family of sisters.
What I’m Coveting
I'm eyeing these cute olive green sneakers from Larroude (they also come in a rusty brown color I love). On a recent trip to Paris, I was obsessed with all the sneakers on chic French women and it's reignited my love of fun sneaks.
This Week’s Win
Today is the last day of a long month! On to the Super Bowl, Valentine's Day, my birthday and hopefully goodbye to sniffles and coughs.
